Chicago Violence and Chicago Police Arming themselves Military style

As we all know Chicago has a very high crime rate, and is very violent. Theres lots of gangs, murders, rapes, everything. a few years back, I read an article on how Chicago Police in typically "bad neighborhoods" were going to start arming very heavily with tactical vest, high power rifles, and assault weapons, it was basically going to be like the national guard. And at one point Trump said he would deploy the National Guard to the Southside of Chicago to stop the violence.

In my opinion I think that it was a good thing that the Chicago Police Department are protecting themselves, and taking the appropriate measures for their safely. However, it's also sad that they have to do these things in the city because of the high crime rate. Now, deploying National Guard to the Southside is really not necessary, to me that is to extreme how are there going to be humvees patrolling the streets? what will the kids think? how can this affect them psychologically?
